Short Story by Creative Writing's Daniel Torday Honored by 'Best American Short Stories 2020'

Posted November 2nd, 2020 at 2:40 pm

Professor of Creative Writing Daniel Torday's "Neighbor," which originally appeared in the magazine Conjunctions, was selected as one of the 100 distinguished stories of the year for the 2020 edition of Best American Short Stories.

Torday is the director of Bryn Mawr's Creative Writing Program. His debut novel The Last Flight of Poxl West is published in paperback from Picador. New York Times chief critic Michiko Kakutani said the book "announces Torday's emergence as a writer deserving of attention," and The New York Times Book Review called the novel, “Expertly crafted and utterly accomplished." A two-time winner of the National Jewish Book Award for fiction, Torday’s stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, NPR, Esquire, Tin House, The Paris Review and many other publications. His second novel, Boomer1, was published in 2018. A film adaptation is currently in development.
