Students Visit Google's NYC Offices

Fifteen Bryn Mawr and two Haverford students traveled to New York City on Friday, March 18, to tour Google's offices there and listen to a panel of women engineers.

Primarily computer science and math majors, the  students learned during a tour of the offices about interviewing at Google, the different careers the company offers, and what a typical day is like for engineers and product managers.

Panel topics included the importance of mentorship and sisterhood, what skills students should focus on for the future, the difference between working at a large company like Google vs. a small start-up or in academia, and different technology sectors.

“They really emphasized learning computer science because you love it and then everything will fall into place,” said Lizzie Siegle ’18, who helped organize the  trip and is an ambassador for She++, a Stanford non-profit that aims to diversify the tech industry by working with and inspiring women.

Siegle will travel to Palo Alto at the end of the month for the She++ Summit.
