The Arts at Bryn Mawr is pleased to welcome Abigail Guay as Performing Arts Series Coordinator. Guay is an independent project manager, producer, and consultant to arts, philanthropic, and community-based organizations. She began her career as a project manager at the Jenny Holzer Studio where she managed exhibitions and public art commissions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. A longtime resident of Seattle, Guay helped found Open Satellite, a three-year experiment in bringing artists-in-residence to a high-rise tower on Seattle's Eastside. She also served as program manager at Grantmakers in the Arts, the national association of public and private funders making grants to artists and arts organizations, where she worked on initiatives addressing individual artist support, arts and social justice, and the overall health of the nonprofit arts sector. Most recently, Guay directed the Neighborhood House arts program on the historic Christ Church campus in Old City, Philadelphia. Working in conjunction with the Arts Program faculty, Guay will curate and coordinate the live event Performing Arts Series and the Learning to Listen classical music salon program.
Guay received her Master of Arts in Art History from Williams College and her Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Skidmore College.
Since 1984 the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series has presented great artists and performances to Philadelphia-area audiences, creating an environment in which the value of the arts is recognized and celebrated. The Series has presented performances by such diverse luminaries as Trisha Brown Dance Company, Meredith Monk, John Waters, Jennifer Koh, the Khmer Arts Ensemble of Cambodia, and Okwui Okpokwasili.
