Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges Renew Bi-College Consortium Agreement

February 25, 2026

Haverford College and Bryn Mawr College have renewed their longstanding partnership through a new five-year Collaborative Compact and Strategy, reaffirming their shared commitment to the Bi-College Consortium and to academic collaboration that strengthens both institutions.

Ten years after adopting the previous 2016 agreement, the colleges reaffirm that “each college is a better version of itself because of the richness of ideas, community, and organization made possible by the Bi-College connection.”

The renewed compact outlines strategic priorities for 2026–2031, with a focus on enhancing academic and curricular opportunities, supporting equitable student interchange, and stewarding shared infrastructure that advances educational excellence. Key initiatives include building efficient cross-campus curricular programs, coordinating advising and academic structures, and implementing next-generation systems that better serve students and faculty.

“Our partnership is grounded in the belief that collaboration expands opportunity, strengthens innovation, and models the power of the liberal arts,” the colleges noted in the agreement.

Governance of the renewed consortium will continue through the Bi-College Council and Steering Committee, led jointly by the presidents and board leadership of both institutions. A formal review of the agreement will take place after five years.

The agreement was signed by Bryn Mawr President Wendy Cadge and Haverford President Wendy Raymond.

"Renewing this agreement is a celebration of a partnership that truly makes Bryn Mawr a more vibrant and intellectually rich community,” said Bryn Mawr College President Wendy Cadge. “Our collaboration with Haverford College allows us to offer our students and faculty a unique ecosystem where the academic resources of two premier institutions create a whole far greater than the sum of its parts. We deeply value this continued connection, which not only expands academic horizons but also reinforces our shared commitment to the transformative power of a liberal arts education in the 21st century."

“Haverford’s and Bryn Mawr’s shared academic partnership demonstrates the excellence that can emerge when two distinguished institutions choose collaboration over parallel pursuits,” said Haverford College president Wendy Raymond. “Renewing this agreement affirms our shared dedication to amplifying avenues of learning for students and faculty alike. It also reinforces the Bi-College Consortium’s core vision: when students have the freedom to explore across two campuses, their expanded pursuits of rigor and discovery strengthen our entire academic community.”

About the Bi-College Consortium

The Bi-College Consortium connects Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College through shared academic programs, cross-registration, and collaborative initiatives that enrich the undergraduate experience and advance institutional missions. The two schools have enjoyed a close relationship ever since Bryn Mawr's founding in 1885, with the relationship becoming more formalized in recent decades. The colleges signed the original Two-College Compact agreement in 1977.
