What’s happening at your internship?

I am an intern working closely with the AI production team and the Data Analytics team, and currently, I am working on a feature engineering task to further optimize the performance of the software.

Why did you apply for this internship?

As a computer science major who always found the concept of AI intriguing, I applied to this internship in hopes of understanding this branch of computer science better, and to learn how the ideas are applied outside the confines of a classroom.

What has been your favorite part of this internship?

Currently, my favorite part about this internship has been getting a chance to interact and learn from so many talented and hard working people. The internship program offers weekly sessions with members from various departments of the company ranging from Human Resources to Data Science, and also, since this is a global company, the employees are located all over the world, hence, getting to know the multitude of personalities and listening to their ideas has been amazing. Moreover, since Afiniti is one of its kind and is providing a service that no other company is, it is incredibly enlightening being a part of a team that is doing such unique work. Getting the opportunity to work so closely with AI has not only been great fun, but also rewarding.

What is something you have learned from your internship that you didn’t expect?

Although I always found artificial intelligence extremely intriguing, this internship truly exposed me to the actual intricacies of this field. I am able to recognize the beauty of it, and solidify my desire to join this field in the future.
