Associate Professor of Biology Adam Williamson and Leila Byerly ’25 are among the contributors of a recently published paper focused on understanding immune responses in the brain.
Microscopy data of immune cells called macrophages were collected and analyzed by Williamson and Byerly and published as part of this collaborative study focused on understanding the immune biology of the brain and learning what goes wrong in neurodegenerative disease.
These experiments were conducted on Bryn Mawr’s high-end spinning disk confocal microscope, a shared instrument used by Williamson’s students and other faculty across STEM departments.
For more on how faculty and students are using this microscope to do research, see this February 2024 article.
Williamson also recently presented undergraduate student-led research from his lab and chaired a speaker session at the Keystone Symposia titled: “From Systems Immunology to Immunoengineering." In Vancouver, British Columbia.
