Class of 2021: Peyton Moriarty

May 24, 2021
""

Name: Peyton Moriarty

Major: History

Minors: Museum Studies, Computer Science

Hometown: Ashburn, VA

Post-graduation plans: I will be continuing my studies in museums and history by becoming an archivist. This fall, I will begin my first semester in grad school at the University of British Columbia, which has one of the best archiving and library science programs in the world. It will be a long journey to the other end of the continent, but I am excited to begin it.

People you want to thank: My family, my friends, and my mentors. You made sure that wherever I was living, I had a home.

Key Bryn Mawr Experiences: Too many to pick from, honestly. In my time at Bryn Mawr, I studied in the UK and in China, I interned at the Smithsonian, I completed some of my best creative writing, and I joined a Hell family and was merry in many a tradition. But the fondest memories will always come from the Fencing Club. With drills, bouting, tournaments, exhausted after-tournament dinners, fundraisers and impromptu celebrations, and all the friends I was able to make and have fun with in between, the experience is one I will treasure for the rest of my life.

Message for the rest of the Class of 2021: Something I learned from fencing: Keep fighting, even when you know you will lose. You will always learn something.
