"Seeing Bryn Mawr students always pursue their unique passions has pushed me to seek out roles and experiences that I would not traditionally apply to."

Mawrters define success on their own terms and lift up others as they make a meaningful difference in the world.

Amanda Blatz '23 of Mentor, Ohio, who is double majoring in economics and Russian, is making a difference with The Borgen Project, a nonprofit organization fighting to end poverty and hunger.

While working with The Borgen Project during the summer of 2021, Amanda worked with Ohio senators and representatives to lobby for policy aiming to reduce global poverty. Amanda spent a lot of time researching current bills, meeting with congressional and senate staffers, and fundraising.

"Seeing Bryn Mawr students always pursue their unique passions has pushed me to seek out roles and experiences that I would not traditionally apply to," says Amanda. "Understanding my own passions allowed me to take on a role where I got to work with global think tanks and understand research that is used to create and then implement policy globally."
