Bryn Mawr Internal Funding Opportunities

George Kline Fellowship
The Department of Russian is awarding funds in the form of George L. Kline Fellowships to students wishing to study in RussiaThese fellowships were established by a Bryn Mawr alumna, Irene Darden Field, in honor of Professor Emeritus George L. Kline, who taught for many years in the Philosophy and Russian Departments at Bryn Mawr. These fellowships are intended to support current and graduating students from Bryn Mawr and Haverford who want to pursue language study, specialized coursework, or independent research in Russia or a Russian-speaking country and need financial assistance in order to accomplish their goals.

Russian Flagship Scholarship
A source of last dollar funding for students who are studying at RLI, RLASP Summer with American Councils, or Russian Overseas Flagship (Overseas Flagship Capstone Course). Applicants must be in the Bryn Mawr Flagship program and registered in the Flagship database. 

Judy Loomis Gould Scholarships for Summer Study Abroad
The Scholarship is open to rising sophomores, rising juniors and rising seniors who would otherwise not have the opportunity to study abroad during their undergraduate years.

Thomas Raeburn White Scholarship
The Thomas Raeburn White Scholarships were established by Amos and Dorothy Peaslee in honor of Thomas Raeburn White, Trustee of the College from 1907-1959. The Scholarship program provides funding for summer language instruction, usually abroad.

Undergraduate Student Passport Funding Support

Global Bryn Mawr and Study Abroad have partnered to offer Bryn Mawr undergraduate students funding to support U.S. passport application fees!

Global Bryn Mawr Funding Database
The Global Bryn Mawr Funding Database lists all funds provided through the Bi-Co for Bryn Mawr undergraduates to travel abroad. This includes opportunities for research, learning, and work in international contexts, such as grants, scholarships, fellowships, and structured programs.  

This database is managed by the Global Bryn Mawr office, which coordinates and communicates the College's global engagement in the arenas of learning, community, and infrastructure. External Funding Opportunities 

Boren Scholarship for International Study
Boren Scholarships provide up to $25,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an immersive summer opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America's engagement with the world.

Advanced Russian Language and Area Studies Program (RLASP)

Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey
Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey offers Language Flagship students and alumni a guaranteed $16,000 scholarship each year toward Middlebury Institute master’s degree.
