Allyson Schwartz, M.S.S. '72: A Woman in Politics and Public Policy

Allyson Y. Schwartz, M.S.S. '72, former member of Congress, is serving as the first Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research's alumna scholar in residence. Take part in this online conversation about health care policy, the impact of social policy, and shared insights on federal policy from Schwartz' years in elected office and her work in the private sector.
GSSWSR prepares students to become effective social work practitioners, advocates for social and economic justice, and leaders in the social work profession. Allyson Schwartz served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district from 2005 to 2015, representing parts of Montgomery County and Northeast Philadelphia. She was also National Chair for Recruitment and Candidate Services for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
