Bryn Maw's May Day tradition originated in 1900 as a fundraising festival, rooted in Anglo-Saxon ideals that shaped early Bryn Mawr. By its final year in 1936, it had become an international sensation that was filmed by movie studios and attended by royalty. This presentation discusses the history and imagery behind this major tradition and inspiration for Grand May Day.
