Colloquium in Visual Culture with Sarah Schenck
Sarah Schenck (filmmaker) "Creating a Film for Global Audiences about a Taboo Subject - Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health - Challenges and Opportunities" "Flashing", a feature documentary film currently in production focuses on the menopause transition. Directed and produced by Sarah Schenck (History of Art, 1987), and filmed in Uganda, Jordan, Denmark, and the USA (upcoming shoots in India and Japan), the film examines the degree to which this universal condition is culturally mediated. What do we share? Where do our experiences differ? What can we learn from each other? And would it be wiser not to have an outsider attempt to represent the experiences of women from other parts of the world?
