On Campus Event - Canaday Library, Disability, Unity, and Innovation Center (Canaday A18)
Event Image Placeholder - Default Image 40

In the Disability, Unity, and Innovation Center (DUIC) we have a wall with a timeline of women and non-binary people with disabilities who have been leaders as well as a wall honoring women and non-binary people with disabilities who have been innovators in the fields of STEM and design. In the spirit of making these exhibits inclusive to all, we are embarking on a project to create an accessible audio description track and tactile display to help visitors experience these exhibits in a multisensory way.

Our project will involve the following:
Researching these people and writing short, museum style blurbs on each
Finding recordings of these speakers and appropriate music and sound effects
Using podcasting software to mix and record an audio description soundtrack
Creating braille and tactile graphics

We will meet each Monday from 4-5pm in the DUIC to work on this project until it is done. If you are interested in history, art, museum studies, theater, disability studies, women's studies, podcasting, or making skills this project is for you, and we would love to have you join us! If you are unable to make this time, but would still like to be involved with this project, please email gcipressi@brynmawr.edu
