The Department of Transnational Italian Studies is thrilled to announce the first installment of the "Italian Movie Night" series: Fiume o morte! by Igor Bezinović (2025). In his latest oeuvre, Croatian filmmaker Bezinović bends the rules of cinematic genres to recount the story of his native town, Rijeka/Fiume, during the military occupation of Gabriele D'Annunzio and his legionnaires (1919-1920).
The movie will be screened in the original version (Croatian/Italian/Fiumano) with English subtitles. A discussion will follow.
