Learning to Listen: Dalí Quartet

The Dalí Quartet is acclaimed for bringing Latin American quartet repertoire to an equal standing alongside the Classical and Romantic canon.

The quartet will perform selected movements from:

  • String Quartet No. 3 in E Flat Major (Allegro, Pastorale, Adantino, Menuetto, Allegro Presto agitato) by Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga (1806-1826).
  • String Quartet No. 2, Magueyes (Allegro giocoso, Molto vivace, Allegro molto sostenuto) by Silvestre Revueltas (1898-1940).
  • Tango Ballet (Titulos, La Calle, Encuentro - Olvido, Cabaret, Soledad, Retorno a Calle) by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992).
  • Fuga Romántica ("Romantic Fugue") by Juan Bautista Plaza (1898-1965).
  • Suite Latina for String Quartet, 2002 (Latin Steps, Milonga and Tango a la Piazzolla, Danza Morena) by Juan R. Ramírez (1945-).

Trained by world-renowned artists, members of the Dalí Quartet are from Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the U.S., and have studied at esteemed institutions such as the Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale University, Indiana University Bloomington, and the Simón Bolivar Conservatory in Caracas, Venezuela. The quartet is based in Philadelphia.
