Dr. Case writes of his lecture:

We find ourselves in an era of mass popular uprisings fueled by inequality, injustice, and state violence. Across the world, recent decades have birthed vibrant protest movements that have changed perspectives, threatened regimes, and at times overthrown governments. Yet the ways we talk about street rebellions often remain trapped in a violence/nonviolence binary that does not fit the reality on the ground. This talk presents combined statistical and interview-based research on riots and protests to help disentangle fact from fiction.

This talk is made possible by the generous support of the Class of 1902 Lecture Fund.
