Special Evening Lecture in Visual Culture with Tom Kalin

Apr 25
2023
5:00pm - 6:30pm
On Campus Event - Old Library, Room 224

Tom Kalin, filmmaker, writer, and activist, presents "It's Not Real and It's Not Fiction."

In this talk, Kalin will discuss the fine line between fact and fiction in his own experimental films (Third Known Nest, From The Air) and narrative features (Swoon, Savage Grace) as well as their connection to the films of Andy Warhol. He will specifically touch on the films DrunkPoor Little Rich Girl, and Lupe.

Tom Kalin’s work traverses diverse forms and genres, from narrative feature films to short videos and mixed media installations to activism. He is a prominent member of New Queer Cinema and his work often explores the tensions between private and public histories.

We encourage everyone who is on campus to join us for this in-person talk in Old Library 224. Please wear a mask.
