WEW: American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Class

In collaboration with the Health Center Advisory Board (HCAB), Bryn Mawr College EMS (BMCEMS) will offer a CPR and First Aid Class to the BMC community during Wellness Education Week 2023.

This class will be taught by an EMT of Narberth Ambulance, our local 911 agency. There are 15 spots available in this class. After capacity is reached, we will have a waitlist to notify individuals if any spots open up. This class is free of charge – all costs covered! Interested? Please sign up through the Google Form

Course includes student manual, certification card, and hands-on practice with feedback devices and training AED’s to simulate an actual event.

American Heart Association HeartSaver AED with First Aid Course Description:

Roughly 2.5 hours, this course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of both cardiac arrest and foreign-body airway obstruction. Students are provided with an instruction booklet and upon successful completion, a two-year certification card. Additionally, students are taught critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.
