WEW: Trauma-Informed Mindfulness
Although mindfulness practices are an important coping strategy for many, mindfulness practices can cause distress or even exacerbate feelings of anxiety in some individuals who are coping with trauma. This presentation will explain the aspects of mindfulness that can be shifted to accommodate anyone who struggles with the sensation of tuning into their body or sitting still, and will explore some alternative mindfulness practices. CW: Discussion of how trauma impacts the brain and body, including sexual harm; however, there will be no graphic details or descriptions.
