| Additional Course Info | Class Number: 1548 This course explores the biological and cultural evolution of humans as viewed from the fossil and archaeological record, beginning with our earliest ancestors and continuing to the dispersal of modern humans around the globe. We will use comparative, functional, and evolutionary anatomy to interpret past behaviors and relationships among fossil hominins, as well as their relationship to modern humans. Furthermore, we will use geology, archaeology, and paleoecology to reconstruct behavioral aspects of fossil hominins and their environmental influences. Throughout the course, we will focus our discussions on major debates in paleoanthropology. Prerequisite: ANTH 101 or permission of instructor.
