Stephen L. Bishop

Stephen Bishop first began teaching at Bryn Mawr in 2014. Prior to that, he taught at both Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania. His language studies were completed in Costa Rica and followed by over ten years working in Latin America: Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile and Peru. For eleven years, he directed Study Abroad in Spain and Peru programs for Rutgers University, recruiting and leading students to sites as varied as Salamanca, Spain and Machu Picchu, Peru. Aware of the importance of training students studying for the medical professions to be able to communicate in Spanish, he has created and taught both at Rutgers and UPenn courses in medical Spanish. These have added to students' professional ability and have been of great value in their chosen professions. He loves traditional Latin American music and, as early as the beginning levels, enjoys helping students to enter a world of Latin culture through the Spanish language.
