The Theater Program of Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges (Mark Lord, Chair) presents its Spring 2017 production, Particular Riskdirected by Sam Towerand written by Jeremy Gable, with an original score by electronic artist Rachel Ishikawa. Tower, a Bryn Mawr College Theater Program guest faculty member and the director and producer of Sam Tower + Ensemble, and Gable, resident playwright of Sam Tower + Ensemble and author of works such as D-PadGo Ahead, and Watch Me Jump, collaborate to create female-forward projects that connect deeply with the cast and design team and produce art that is unique to each space and circumstance. Their notable work together includes 901 Nowhere Street, which was performed at the 2015 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and Strange Tenants, previewed in the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series' Wintry Mix in January 2017 and set to premiere in the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Festival.

The ensemble's Particular Risk is a collaboratively created whirlwind of movement, theater, and music that follows the footprints of political corruption in the notorious boardwalk town of Asbury Park, NJ. In this psychedelic noir, composer Ishikawa’s original score introduces a distinctly cinematic, synth-heavy style on top of the temporal setting of 1971. Featuring live vocal performance woven deftly through the thread of the play, Particular Risk uses the unexpected to subvert classic film noir tropes and explore the deeply and famously divided beach town  of Asbury Park.

Particular Risk closes the Theater Program’s 2016-2017 season, with six performances (April 7-9 and 13-15) at the Hepburn Teaching Theater (Goodhart Hall, Bryn Mawr College). Opening night is Friday, April 7.
