The Toddler Program serves 2- to 3-year-olds. Parents are welcome to visit the toddler classes in the fall before the year that their child would attend. Priority for the Nearly 3s class is given to families who have attended Toddler Time the previous year. Admission is on a rolling basis, and families are usually notified in early January after their application has been received and they have visited the program.
Toddler Time is a one-day-per-week program for children approximately 21-31 months by Sept. 1. Parents (or caregivers) attend with their children, and they meet on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Nearly 3s is for children who are at least 31 months old by Sept. 1 and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. The goal of the class is to help toddlers master separating from their caregivers so that they feel comfortable in the classroom without their caregivers being present. To help make the separation process as smooth as possible, parents and caregivers are asked to stay for the first few classes and are welcome to stay beyond that if beneficial for their child. Adults are expected to stay on site for children not yet fully toilet trained. In the Spring, this program also adds Friday classes.
Both programs are staffed by a teacher and undergraduate assistants.
"Wednesdays with Jan and the other toddler parents is my favorite time of the week. I feel heard when I share my concerns and I can laugh at myself sometimes." —Carolyn Klinghoffer
