Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions/ Coordinator of Visits and Events

Bryn Mawr College has an opening for an Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions/Coordinator of Visits and Events.

Position Objective

Reporting directly to the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions, the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions/Coordinator of Visits and Events provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and assessment of all on and off campus visits and events that contribute to the enrollment of academically talented and culturally, ethnically, economically, geographically, religiously, and socially diverse undergraduate students. The Associate Director supervises and leads the team responsible for developing and implementing all on and off-campus events including but not limited to daily visits, the coordination of campus tours, information sessions and panels (virtual and in-person), group visits and interviews, our Lantern Scholars Fall fly-in program, and larger-scale prospective and admitted student events. The Associate Director also oversees management of the student interns, tour guides, and ambassadors and serves as the Admissions Office’s primary event liaison to College offices and services.

Position Responsibilities

Manage a designated recruitment territory and related recruitment travel (approximately 4-5 weeks yearly); interview prospective students; develop and maintain productive working relationships with key educational stakeholders; provide admissions counseling for prospective students and their families, conduct daily information sessions; and review applications. Additionally, the Associate Director of Admissions/ Coordinator of Visits and Events will:

  • Directly manage all on and off campus visits and events, from the creation to the execution and evaluation of our visit and event offerings.
  • Oversee our Lantern Scholars fly-in programming, from application review and selection to event execution.
  • Work closely with internal area leads – communications, Slate Captains, international counselor – to ensure smooth workflows in support of visits and events.
  • Coordinate scheduling for information sessions, tours, and interviews; conduct information sessions.
  • Stay apprised of visit and event participants and assess data for trends in order to make recommendations for changes and improvements.
  • Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of student tour guides and interns during the academic year and summer months.
  • Schedule shifts and manage payroll for student tour guides and interns.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and supervision of event area staff and volunteer student ambassadors.
  • Propose innovations aimed at efficiencies and improving our visit and event offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in a college admissions office is encouraged with preference given to candidates with event planning/support experience in a college setting.
  • Must be committed to and able to articulate the values associated with a liberal arts institution for women and shows enthusiasm and a strong commitment to recruiting and enrolling a diverse college-bound student body.
  • Experience building events in Slate preferred.

Additionally, the candidate must have:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as group presentation skills.
  • A proven ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • An understanding of the tenets of professionalism and a clear customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and priorities, establish goals, and produce desired results in a timely way.
  • Well-developed collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with others and contribute to a team’s success.
  • Ability to work effectively independently.
  • Flexibility to work outside of the conventional work week, including the ability to perform overnight travel.
