Web Content Specialist 

POSITION OBJECTIVE 

Reporting to the Associate Director of Web Strategy and Content in the Office of College Communications, the Web Content Specialist is responsible for maintaining content on the Bryn Mawr College website and assisting web editors in creating compelling online content. The individual in this position completes or escalates all incoming website help requests, including online event and announcement listings. They are also responsible for converting College news articles to a web format, curating photo and document assets in the website content management system, and building out the online version of the College’s triannual Alumnae/i Bulletin magazine. The Web Content Specialist also reviews current written content for search engine optimization (SEO), accessibility, findability, grammar, and style in order to plan and execute user experience improvements.  

Schedule: Full-time, 12-month, hybrid 1 day per week remote/ 4 days on-campus work schedule, which is subject to college policy; may include evening and weekend commitments. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Website Maintenance 

  • Uses the content management system (CMS) to ensure all website content is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with web content standards, brand standards, and ADA guidelines. 

  • Uses the College’s accessibility and SEO platform (Site Improve) to administer quality assurance checks, identify and correct grammatical and typographical errors, and optimize web content for improved user experience.  

  • Conducts content audits to review the website regularly, including 404 errors, broken links, and accessibility reports, to fix content delivery issues. 

  • Provides expertise and guidance to campus partners regarding website use and content development. 

  • Reviews and triages all incoming web edit requests, completing, assigning, or escalating requests as needed. 

  • Stays informed about best practices in web content and user experience. 

Digital Events and Announcements 

  • Reviews and manages all partner-submitted event and announcement content, providing guidance and insights for digital promotional improvements and content updates. 

  • Communicates directly with campus partners involved in event submission, approval, and promotional processes. 

  • Leads the creation of digital website assets and promotional strategies for high-level, campus-wide initiatives, events, and announcements. 

Website Asset Coordination 

  • Collaborates with Creative Services colleagues to curate photo and document assets for departmental website use. 

  • Submits photo and video requests to Creative Services, as related to elevating the website with visual and interactive assets. 

  • Gathers news articles from the Editorial Services team to build engaging, dynamic news and story posts on the website. 

  • Works with College Communications colleagues to execute the team’s asset syndication model across the website. 

  • Works with graphic and multimedia designers to source website content as needed. 

Performs all other duties as assigned.  

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree in a website technology, communications, or marketing-related field; or associate’s degree or equivalent certification with additional experience. 

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in digital communications, marketing, or content creation. 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.  

  • Excellent customer service skills.  

  • Ability to multitask and attention to detail.  

  • Ability to operate in a busy support environment, creatively solve problems, and provide a high level of collegial and tactful support to executive offices of the college as well as faculty and staff within college departments and programs

PREFERRED SKILLS 

  • Experience managing website content (text, images, pdfs, etc) in a content management system (preferably Drupal).  

  • Experience working in higher education. 

  • Website photography and/or design experience.
