Wanted: Sustainability Impact Interns for Staff Association End-of-Year Sale: Work April-May
Sustainability Impact Intern for the Staff Association End of Year Sale The Staff Association seeks 3 undergraduate student interns to work a total of 80 hours in the months of April and May to help coordinate their annual End of Year Sale. This fundraiser collects, sorts, and sells or donates discarded belongings from the dormitories to community members and partners with the goal of reducing waste during campus move-out. Expectations Impact Interns will Work 80 hours total during designated weeks from April 6 through May 28. The weekly time commitment is: week of April 6-10 : 2hrs. week of April 13-17 : 2hrs. week of April 20-24 : 2hrs. week of April 27-May 1 : 2hrs. week of May 4-8 : 2hrs. week of May 11-15 : 10 hrs. week of May 18-22 : 40 hrs. week of May 26-28 : 20 hrs Impact Interns will perform outreach to students and community partners; organize donations; and provide customer service during the sale; set-up and clean-up Collect data for sustainability office (surveys, research brief) Interns should feel comfortable standing for long periods of time and lifting 20-30 pounds Benefits Pays for on-campus housing for the period of May 17-28 Level 1 student base pay ($14 per hour) Gain knowledge and experience in sustainability work Outcomes of the End of the Year Sale Increase landfill diversion by improving student engagement, collection systems, and material triage. Expand student participation in sale operations through outreach and communication, and produce web content about internship experiences for future promotion of the annual Sale.
