Renée Ater Associate Professor Emeritus, American Art Department of Art History and Archaeology University of Maryland "Remembering and Commemorating Slavery" This talk will explore the ways in which communities have memorialized slavery in public spaces and on university campuses. It considers the visual representation of slavery through public monuments and memorials in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States.
