Field Trip to the Rosenbach Museum
The Department of Transnational Italian Studies is delighted to announce a field trip to The Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia, for a guided tour of its literary collections and archival materials.The visit is organized within Professor Luca Zipoli's course “Theory in Practice: Critical Discourses in the Humanities” (COML B213) and is open also to students not enrolled in the class via RSVP. The guided tour will be followed by a lunch.
Start time and location:
12:00 pm at The Rosenbach (2008-2010 Delancey Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103).
Instructions:
Take the PAO #9534 train that departs from Bryn Mawr at 11:03am and arrives at Suburban Station at 11:30am. On the way back take the PAO #8539 train that departs from Suburban Station at 2:05pm and that arrives at Bryn Mawr at 2:31pm.
Abstract:
The Rosenbach Museum and Library is a community that engages with and celebrates the art of the written word using our collection of rare books and manuscripts. The Rosenbach creates programs and exhibitions inspired by a collection of nearly 400,000 rare books, manuscripts, and fine and decorative arts objects, including some of the best-known literary and historical objects in the world. The Rosenbach’s programs – from Reading Courses to literary cocktail parties – serve people from around the corner and around the globe. In this guided tour of its literary collections and archival materials, student will enhance their inquiry, learning, and creative thought by engaging in first-hand research and discussions inspired by the collections.
