Send-Off Parties

Send-Off Parties welcome incoming Mawrters and their families to the Bryn Mawr College community and connect them with current students, alumnae/i, parents, and staff.

The Alumnae/i Relations and Development Office, in coordination with alumnae/i regional clubs, are hosting this year's parties, both in-person and virtually, in July and August. You are welcome to register for as many events as you would like.

Questions? Email sendoffs@brynmawr.edu or phone 610-526-5227.

Send-Off Parties Details

An FDA-authorized Covid-19 vaccination and, if eligible, booster, is required for all in-person Send-Off attendees 5 years and older.

Recognizing that the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve with new variants and subvariants, a decision will be made between the College and the host one week in advance of each in-person event regarding the safety for a gathering in that region. In the event that it is determined unsafe to gather the event will be moved to Zoom.

We are excited to welcome the incoming undergraduate class and other new students to campus each fall! Send-Offs are a wonderful opportunity for Bryn Mawr's newest students to come together and meet Mawrters from their area.

These informal gatherings take place across the country and are designed to ease the anxiety of leaving home, foster a sense of community amongst alumnae/i and current students, and celebrate being part of Bryn Mawr. It is also a time for parents and family members to build their own support systems as families embark on this journey together.

If an event is not scheduled in your region we encourage you to attend our Virtual Open Event.

In addition to regional Send-Off parties where you can meet people in the Bryn Mawr community who live near you, our program has expanded to include some virtual affinity events to meet members of our community with shared experiences.

This year we are hosting three virtual affinity Send-Offs:

  • BIPOC Event: BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. BIPOC students, alumnae/i, and their families are encouraged to attend. This is a space for people who hold these identities only.
  • Breaking Barriers EventBreaking Barriers is a comprehensive four-year program for first-generation, low-income, and/or undocumented students that provides mentorship, programming and support services, and resources. Breaking Barriers Scholars may identify with one or more of these identities. Breaking Barriers Scholars, alumnae/i, and their families are encouraged to attend. This is a space for people who hold these identities or their parents/guardians only.
  • LGBTQIA+ Event: LGBTQIA+ students, their families, and alumnae/i are encouraged to attend. This is a space for people who hold these identities or their parents/guardians only.

For these virtual events, we encourage parents or family to register for the gatherings separately from their students and use separate devices during the event if possible, as we will break into separate student and parent/family breakout rooms during the event. Parents and family are welcome to register for these gatherings even if their student is not able to participate, and vice versa.

In addition to the in-person regional events and the virtual affinity events outlined above, we are also hosting some additional virtual Send-Offs:

  • International Event: This event is for our community that lives outside of the United States.
  • Virtual Open Event: This event is for anyone who cannot make it one of our in-person regional events for whatever reason.
  • Phoenix Area Event: The Bryn Mawr Club of Phoenix is hosting their Send-Off virtually in 2022.

For these virtual events, we encourage parents or family to register for the gatherings separately from their students and use separate devices during the event if possible, as we will break into separate student and parent/family breakout rooms during the event. Parents and family are welcome to register for these gatherings even if their student is not able to participate, and vice versa.

Bryn Mawr College welcomes the full participation of all individuals in all aspects of campus life. Should you wish to request a disability-related accommodation for this event, please contact the event sponsor/coordinator (sendoffs@brynmawr.edu | 610-526-5227). Requests should be made as early as possible.

2022 Regional Send-Off Parties

These informal gatherings take place across the country and are designed to ease the anxiety of leaving home, foster a sense of community amongst alumnae/i and current students, and celebrate being part of Bryn Mawr. It is also a time for parents and family members to build their own support systems as families embark on this journey together.

Send-Off Parties in additional locations are still being confirmed. Please check back to see if an event has been added in your region. If an event is not scheduled in your region we encourage you to attend our Virtual Open Event.
