Hello! My name is Sara Pratt (she/her), and I am a senior majoring in Growth and Structure of Cities and minoring in Philosophy. I grew up in Shanghai, China and studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark in the Fall of my junior year. While in Copenhagen, I was able to take courses that focused on various aspects of urban studies – things like adaptive reuse, public infrastructure and design, and food spaces, and many of my courses included hands-on exploration into the city. Outside of class, I spent my time swimming in the canals, trying new bakeries, volunteering at a local farmers market, and just exploring as much as possible! Study Abroad Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Hi all! My name is Micah Sheppard (she/her), and I am a senior neuroscience major with a sociology minor. This past spring I studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa during my second semester of junior year. At the University of Cape Town I took credits outside of my major to explore classes they had to offer, like African feminist studies, critiquing psychology beyond the western world, and local religious studies. Outside of my academic experience, I spent a lot of time exploring everything Cape Town had to offer, like hiking, joining the UCT ultimate frisbee team, spending time on the beach, surfing, going to local markets, and so much more! Throughout my time in the country, my program also took us on trips outside of the city too, like flying out to Johannesburg and visiting Kruger national park. I would love to help other students go abroad and experience everything it has to offer, so reach out or visit my office hours!

Study Abroad Location: Melbourne, Australia

Hi! My name is Chloe Stephenson-Brown (she/her) and I'm a senior majoring in Growth and Structure of Cities and minoring in Environmental Studies. I studied abroad at the University of Melbourne during fall 2024. While abroad, I took classes in multiple disciplines, but my favorite, an anthropology course titled "Urban Ethnography in Action" consisted of group research, giving me opportunities to work with classmates to talk to local planners and get to know a specific park project in-depth. I also took Postcolonial Visual Art which took me to many local museums. Outside of class, I explored Melbourne's famous laneways and coffee shops, joined a local basketball rec league, traveled around the country, and attended the Melbourne International Film Festival through the university's film club! I'm super excited to be a study abroad student coordinator this year, so please drop by my office hours anytime!

Hi! My name is Maia Tsalik (she/her), and I’m a senior philosophy major with a minor in political science. I studied abroad in New Zealand fall semester of my junior year where I studied political parties, religious epistemology, and philosophy. Aside from classes, I spent a lot of time exploring New Zealand’s incredible environment (especially Fiordland!) and baking with my flatmates! This past summer I also completed an internship in Berlin through the IES Berlin Internship Program where I did political philosophy research with a professor at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences. I had an amazing time exploring all the different areas of Berlin and absolutely loved my time living there. I’m so excited to be study abroad student coordinator this year and can’t wait to answer any questions you may have!
