CR-NCR Spring 2020 Emergency Policy

Credit-No Credit Spring 2020 Emergency Policy due to Covid-19

The Special Grading policies put into place for Spring 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 allow for the following exceptions to the Credit/No Credit policy – Courses in the major could be taken CR/N; CR grades that cover a merit grade (2.0 or better) can count toward the major and College requirements; P (Pass) grades assigned by a faculty member in Spring 2020 may count toward the major and College requirements.

Below is the text of the Emergency and Temporary Credit/No Credit Policy for Undergraduates at Bryn Mawr College for the Spring 2020 semester in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of the extraordinary circumstances under which classes are being conducted, we have initiated changes in the CR/NC policy and the Pass/Fail policy for this term.

  • Undergraduate students will be allowed to choose to take one or more of their courses CR/NC in the spring of 2020. There will be no limit to the number of CR/NC courses a student may take this semester, and these would not count as any of the four that students are allowed to elect over their four years. If a student elects to take a course CR/NC and the underlying grade is a merit grade, then the course can count towards the major.
  • In addition, some instructors declared one or more of their undergraduate courses Pass/Fail (where Pass = 1.0 - 4.0 and Fail = 0.0). If the professor elected to teach a course pass/fail, a student may count it towards the major or towards a graduation requirement as long as the student earns a Pass.
