Please contact lzipoli@brynmawr.edu for more information.

The event is co-sponsored by the Tri-Co Philly Program and Praxis.

Abstract:

Led by South Philly native Chef Jacquie and enriched by the participation of author Mike Madaio, this Italian Market food tour offers the opportunity to reflect on the legacies that Italian migrants and Italian-American communities left in Philadelphia's rich and diverse culinary history. The tour includes a cheese tasting at DiBruno Bros, the tasting of two classic Philly-style sandwiches from Angelo’s Cheesesteaks and Paesano’s, and a dessert with the iconic mini cannoli from Isgro’s Pastries. The tour will wrap up with a final Q&A and discussion with guest speaker Mike Madaio about his book "A History of Philadelphia Sandwiches: Steaks, Hoagies, Iconic Eateries & More" (Arcadia Publishing, 2024).
