History and Development

  • Started with 16 members, in Spring 2018 — Grown to 84 members, in 2020 — consistently a mix of students, staff, and faculty

  • Submitted recommendations for Flexner Lecture Series 

  • Proposed course evaluation question concerning equity and inclusion, Spring, 2018 (adopted as pilot Fall, 2020)

  • Reflected on and responded to 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 Diversity and Inclusion reports

  • Submitted community responses on Inclusion and Equity Frameworks 2018-19, 2019-20 

  • Supported ​and pooled information about various community efforts to engage anti-racist education and action 

  • Led a participatory process (65 campus community members participating) to developing an Anti-Racist Framework for Bryn Mawr College to define and anchor anti-racist action

  • Envisioning and advocating for a Center for Anti-Racist Action that would support all units on campus to work toward anti-racist goals

  • Fall, 2020: Changed name from "Campaign for Anti-Racist Literacy at BMC," to "Coalition for Anti-Racist Literacy at BMC," to better describe the continued efforts toward forward anti-racist movement.
