Majors and Minors
Declaring a Major
Declaring a major is part of the overall Sophomore Planning Process. Before preregistration ends in the spring of your sophomore year, you will be expected to choose a major subject. You will create a Major Work Plan and review with your departmental major adviser.
Many resources are available to assist you in choosing a major. For more information, please consult the Sophomore Planning Process.
Learning about Department Major Requirements
Each department's pages within the catalog present its academic focus and summarize the requirements for the major. Department websites will also include this information, along with supplemental materials that will give you a more in-depth view of the field. You should read these materials for all the departments you are considering.
Departments will also hold Major Information Sessions each semester. These information sessions are opportunities to meet faculty and student majors in a department and learn more about the field of study.
