Meet the Counseling Staff
Polly O’Keefe (she/her):Counseling Services Director
Polly is a Bryn Mawr alumna and a licensed clinical social worker who lives with her long-time partner and her dog, Jasper. She loves reading fiction and nonfiction, watching dramas on Netflix and the BBC, and is a political junky.
Hilary Hla, Psy.D. (she/they): Counseling Services Associate Director
Hilary is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. After growing up in New England, Hilary moved to Pennsylvania for undergraduate and graduate studies and has found home in Philadelphia over the past eight years. Hilary enjoys biking, gardening, visual art and cooking for self-care.
Frances Berger (she/her): Graduate Social Work Clinical Fellow
Frances is a graduate of the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College. Frances was born and raised in Philadelphia and returned for graduate school after spending two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon. For self care, she enjoys day trips to the beach, re-watching early 2000’s reality TV with her roommates, and going on bike rides around the city.
Jonathan Colvson (he/him): Staff Counselor
Jonathan is a graduate of the School of Social Policy and Practice at University of Pennsylvania. Jonathan grew up both in the Philadelphia area and in Binghamton, New York. In his free time, Jonathan can be found reading, writing, sketching, or practicing a variety of musical instruments. His self-care includes walks outdoors, meditation, and spending quality time with friends, family, and pets.
Tisa Baena (she/her): Graduate Social Work Clinical Fellow
Tisa is a licensed social worker and a Clinical Fellow at BMC Counseling Services this year. She is life-long Philadelphian, and NPR enthusiast. She relaxes with friends, books, any outdoor activity, and lots of quality time with her large extended family. Ask her to go on a walk and she'll say yes!
Cecelia Johnson-Dunlap (she/her): Staff Psychiatrist
Dr. Johnson-Dunlap is a native Philadelphian. She has done most of her training and practice both in and around Philadelphia and the suburbs. She completed her medical training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Residency at Thomas Jefferson and Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. Although she loves to travel there's still no place like home. Her love of culture, art and diversity fuel her passion for psychiatry.
Ruth Frank (she/her): Staff Psychiatrist
Ruth began working in the Counseling Service in 2018. Having lived and gone to medical school in New York City, she did her psychiatry residency in Philadelphia at Jefferson. She has studied dance and karate and, for the last 15 years, practices tai chi. She enjoys reading, writing poetry, time spent with family and friends, travel, and museums.
Ania Kubin (she/her): Staff Counselor
Ania is a licensed social worker who grew up in and around Philadelphia and in Warsaw, Poland. Her bilingual and bicultural upbringing led her to discover the power of metaphors and symbolism. To this day she loves all kinds of music, poetry, and paintings.
Sara Lewis (they/them): 2nd-Year Social Work Intern
Sara is a second-year student in the master's program at the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research at Bryn Mawr College. Sara was born and raised outside of Cleveland, Ohio, and began graduate school at Bryn Mawr after spending five years in San Francisco. Prior to pursing Social Work, Sara received a master's degree in Women and Gender Studies. For self-care, Sara enjoys ceramics, baking for friends, hiking, and spending time near the water.
Joanne Maleno (she/her): Receptionist
Joanne is an integral part of the Counseling Services team. She can be found helping students and staff in the front desk. Her self-care includes cheering on the Eagles and long walks with her puppy, Willow. Joanne also loves spending time on the shore and in the mountains with her family and friends.
