Associate Director for Campus Safety

Bryn Mawr College has an opening for an Associate Director for Campus Safety.

The Associate Director of Campus Safety serves as a senior member of the Campus Safety leadership team, supporting the overall safety and well-being of the College community. Reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Safety, the Associate Director helps shape and implement the strategic vision for the department while ensuring effective daily operations, compliance, and proactive engagement with students, faculty, and staff.

This position is responsible for departmental operations including environmental health and safety initiatives, safety education and crime prevention programs, emergency preparedness, compliance and reporting, parking enforcement, and first-responder response to on-campus emergencies. The Associate Director provides leadership to field staff, develops and implements policies and procedures, and advances outreach and education efforts designed to build trust and promote a safe, inclusive campus environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director in developing and implementing the strategic direction of the Campus Safety Department.
  • Manage daily operations of the department, including staff supervision, scheduling, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee environmental health and safety programs and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and deliver safety education, crime prevention, and outreach programs for the campus community.
  • Lead departmental emergency preparedness planning, training, and response coordination.
  • Provide first-responder services for all on-campus incidents, emergencies, and calls for service.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy in departmental reporting, including Clery Act and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders including student affairs, facilities, and residential life to promote a safe and welcoming community.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students and student groups to encourage engagement and trust in campus safety services.
  • Back up to Security Systems Coordinator of building access systems, parking policies, enforcement, and related services.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • This position requires availability for On-Call and after-hours response as needed.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience (e.g. mental health and personal crisis response, safety/security, emergency response/incident command, or related fields).
  • Valid driver's license with ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Pennsylvania Act 153 Child Abuse Clearances.
  • Currently obtain or ability to achieve and maintain certifications in First Aid, AED, and CPR.
  • The Associate Director is expected to model professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment, and to serve as a visible, approachable leader within the community.
