Am I a Responsible Employee?

All Bryn Mawr employees (except for Confidential Resources*) are designated as “Responsible Employees” and therefore required to share a report of sexual misconduct with the Title IX Coordinator.

A Responsible Employee includes any employee who has the authority to take action to redress sexual violence; who has been given the duty of reporting incidents of sexual violence or any other misconduct by students, faculty or staff to the Title IX coordinator or other appropriate school designee; or whom a student could reasonably believe has this authority to take action.

When a Responsible Employee becomes aware of sexual misconduct involving a member of the College, the College is on notice and must therefore act promptly and appropriately.  As a result, Responsible Employees have an obligation to promptly contact the College’s Title IX Coordinator and to report what they know about an incident of sexual misconduct.  This includes when the misconduct has been perpetrated against or by a third party.

The Bryn Mawr Sexual Misconduct Policy governs all sexual misconduct, including, but not limited to sexual harassment, sexual assault, other forms of sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and stalking. For purposes of this policy, sex or gender-based discrimination is considered sexual misconduct.

By reporting, you are not only ensuring that the College is able to properly respond, but more importantly, you are ensuring that the individual who may have experienced sexual misconduct is connected with those on campus trained to assist them, offer support, and address the safety of the individual and others within our College community.
