Instructor or Lecturer and Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director
The Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director is responsible for organizing and administering all phases of the swim program, including but not limited to student-athlete skill and leadership development, the recruitment of outstanding student-athletes, practice organization, meet day coaching, budget management, understanding and enforcing College, Centennial Conference, and NCAA regulations, and scheduling and supervision of the assistant coach. Teaching in the physical education curriculum is expected. The Head Swim Coach will administer all aspects of the swim proficiency test, which is a graduation requirement for all undergraduate students. An appreciation and understanding of the role athletics and physical education play in a rigorous academic setting is essential. As the Aquatics Director, the successful candidate will manage all aspects of the pool, including (but not limited to) hiring lifeguards, overseeing the facility, and organizing outside groups for 12 months of the year.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certification are required; a master's degree is preferred. Demonstrated coaching, recruiting, and teaching experience are required. All candidates should possess an understanding of the role physical education and athletics play in a rigorous academic setting and an ability to identify and attract outstanding students to the College. A finalist with a bachelor’s degree will be appointed at the faculty rank of Instructor. A finalist with a master’s degree will be appointed at the faculty rank of a Lecturer.
