Tri-Co Philly Program
Tri-Co Philly offers urban-focused, experiential classes and co-curricular activities in Philadelphia.
Tri-Co Philly is a semester-long program which connects Bryn Mawr and Tri-Co students, as a group, to the city. Students in the program enroll in two Philadelphia-focused courses from different disciplines. Other students can take a single course. Each course is taught once a week in Philadelphia, by Tri-Co faculty. Speakers and representatives from organizations are invited guests into the classes, and students explore the city through neighborhood tours, trips to museums, and work with various community-based groups. The city setting enhances the classroom experience by providing a sense of place, helping students learn firsthand how their academic work connects to people's lived realities.
The program also includes participation in monthly Philadelphia-based activities—some connected to the themes of the courses and some simply fun—as well as the opportunity to attend talks and engage with volunteer opportunities in the city.
Students who will be second-semester first years, sophomores, juniors or seniors, in the semester they enroll, are eligible to participate in the program. All expenses for classes and cocurricular and extracurricular programming are covered for students accepted into the program. Travel to Tri-Co Philly classes will also be covered for students taking a class, but not enrolled in the program.
