The Facilities Services team manages a variety of projects across the College.

July 2026 Updates

Project Updates as of July 2, 2026

Description: The elevator failed the required State weighted test inspection due to a leak in the hydraulic system.  The repair includes removal of the existing hydraulic jack components, installation of a new jack assembly and PVC liner, related pit work, system testing,  and Pennsylvania State inspection coordination.

Status:  The jack assembly has been order and expediated State approval is underway.  The estimated delivery of the new jack assembly is schedule for mid to late September.  

Impacts: The elevator is OUT OF SERVICE.  

 

Description: Full Implementation of the campus-wide fire alarm receiver system upgrade (all building except Arnecliffe, Canaday Library, Gateway Building, Goodhart Hall, New Dorm, and Student Life & Wellness Center which were upgraded during the Pilot Phase completed in March 2026).

Status:  Installation of receiver system is complete.  Installment of equipment, in all buildings except Arnecliffe, Canaday Library, Gateway Building, Goodhart Hall, New Dorm ant the Well, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer.  Testing of the new system will occur over the summer. 

Impacts: Testing is on-going.  Building-wide announcements will be made prior to testing. There will be some noise and activity within the buildings during testing.

 

Description:  Building-wide upgrade of existing fire alarm system.

Status:  The work will occur over the summers of 2026 and 2027.  The new system will completed by August 2027. 

Impacts: There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.

 

Description: Replace the current switch with a code compliant switch and replacing the oldest underground cable on campus. This will improve reliability and will minimize the impact of future maintenance and construction by allowing for the isolation of segments of the loop.

Status: On-site work is underway.  Miller Brothers will be replacing the underground wire supporting the campus electrical loop.   

Impacts:  There will be some noise and construction activity within the building and at the location of the new equipment.  Limited, scheduled and announced power outages will occur throughout the summer.   

 

Description:  Removal and replacement of ceramaic tiles, stair treads and stone coping on the exterior porch entry.

Status:  The repair work has begun and will continue through the summer. The work is schedule to be complete in mid-August 2026.

Impact:  This entrance to the building will be closed.  An alternate entry for occupants has been identified.  There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.

Description:  Modernization of Classroom 110

Status:  Renovation work will continue through the summer. 

Impact:  The classroom will be off-line for the Spring Semester and Summer 2026.  There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.

Description:  Repairs to parapet outside the sitting room on the inside of Pembroke Arch.

Status:  Scaffolding has been erected and a temporary wall has been constructed to separate the construction area.  Interior work is scheduled to be completed by mid-August with final exterior repairs wrapping up in mid-September 2026.

Impact:  There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.

Description: A new Physics lab will be constructed in Park 234.

Status: On-site construction has commenced.  The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for early August 2026.

Impact: There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the Lab.

Description: A new Physics Quantum Sensing & Materials lab will be constructed in Park 147/148/149.

Status: On-site construction has commenced.  The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for mid September 2026.

Impact: There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the Lab.

Description:  Relocation of Collections Space from Old Library to lower level of Rhys Carpenter

Status:  On-site construction has commenced.  The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for early August 2026.

Impact:  There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the work.

Description:  Repairs to the hallway and women's restroom on the 1st Floor

Status:  On-site construction has wrapping up.  The men's restroom is open.  The women's restroom is waiting for installation of partitions.  The anticipated completion of this work is scheduled for mid July 2026.

Impact:  There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the work.

Description:  Replacement of window bench seats in 3rd Floor Rooms.

Status:  Replacement of the benches will begin the first week of June in Pembroke East and then move to Rockefeller and Pembroke West.  The work will continue until mid-August 2026.

Impact:  There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.
