The Facilities Services team manages a variety of projects across the College.
March 2026 Updates
Project Updates as of March 2, 2026
Description: Pilot Phase of the campus-wide fire alarm receiver system upgrade (Arnecliffe, Canaday Library, Gateway Building, Goodhart Hall, New Dorm, and Student Life & Wellness Center).
Status: Installation of receiver system has begun. Installment of equipment in the pilot buildings is scheduled to be completed by the end of the semester. Testing of the new system and software is underway.
Impacts: There will be some noise and construction activity within the buildings.
Description: The passenger elevator will be modernized. (This is the elevator that is currently out of service.)
Status: On-site work is underway. The elevator is scheduled to be back in service in March 2026.
Impacts: The passenger elevator will remain out of service until the modernization is complete. There will be some noise, odor and construction activity within the building. More intensive work will be scheduled int he early morning hours. (The freight elevator will remain in services during the project.)
Description: A new Chemistry lab will be constructed in Park 276 Suite.
Status: On-site construction has begun. The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for mid to late May 2026.
Impact: There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the Suite.
Description: Installation of a makeup air unit to provide cooling in the kitchen area.
Status: Installation of the unit has begun. The unit is scheduled to be operation by mid-June 2026.
Impacts: There will be some noise and construction activity within the kitchen area.
Description: Replace the current switch with a code compliant switch and replacing the oldest underground cable on campus. This will improve reliability and will minimize the impact of future maintenance and construction by allowing for the isolation of segments of the loop.
Status: The transformer and outdoor switch board have been received for the campus electrical loop upgrade project.
Impacts: Our contractor, Miller Brothers, will be onsite with trucks and heavy equipment to set the pieces of electrical gear the week of March 9th. The equipment will be placed in the area adjacent to the path between Dalton Hall, Guild and Pembroke East. The area around the work site will be most congested on Monday and Tuesday (3/9 & 3/10). The path may have partial closures causing minimal delays, but access to Guild and Dalton will be maintained. If weather and time permits, Miller Brothers will begin wiring these pieces of equipment. Standard work hours of 7 am to 3pm will apply.
Description: Modernization of Classroom 110
Status: Heavy demolition work was completed over Winter Break. Renovation work will continue through the semester. The classroom will be back on-line for the Fall Semester 2026.
Impact: The classroom will be off-line for the Spring Semester and Summer 2026. There will be some noise and construction activity within the building.
Description: A new Physics lab will be constructed in Park 234.
Status: On-site construction was commenced. The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for mid September 2026.
Impact: There will be some noise and construction activity in the general area of the Lab.
Description: A new Physics Quantum Sensing & Materials lab will be constructed in Park 147/148/149.
Status: On-site construction will commence March 7, 2026. The anticipated completion of the work is scheduled for mid September 2026.
Impact: There will be significant noise and construction activity in the general area of the Lab during Spring Break (3/7/26 through 3/15/26).
