Interdisciplinary Innovation Grants

Overview

The Committee on Academic Priorities (CAP) invites proposals for Interdisciplinary Innovation Grants to support collaborative research and teaching initiatives. These grants are designed to foster new connections across departments, programs, and administrative units, and to support innovative, cross-disciplinary work.

Recent funded projects include:

  • A project exploring geography and space, led by Min Kyung Lee (Cities) and Nora Taplin-Kaguru (Sociology), supporting an interdisciplinary research hub focused on Geographical Information Systems and spatial visualization. This initiative brings together 16 faculty and staff across 11 departments, programs, and staff roles.
  • A project led by Jose Vergara (Russian) focused on global carceralities, with the goal of establishing an interdisciplinary Carceral Studies Certificate. This effort engages 12 faculty and staff across 10 departments, programs, and offices.

Call for Proposals

Faculty are invited to apply for Interdisciplinary Innovation Grants on a rolling basis to support activities planned through Fall 2028. CAP encourages proposals that explore new interdisciplinary collaborations or deepen existing ones.
