Parliament

The Parliament Living & Learning Community will give students powerful tools of social science for understanding how and why we live together now. The courses in Parliament combine historical and present-day approaches as well as normative — “how should we live?” — and empirical — “how do we live?” – questions. The Thrive course will also hold space for pursuing these questions with a special focus on Bryn Mawr. Your entry into Parliament, if you choose to do so, will empower you to speak, listen, disagree, inquire, and imagine better — and to do so with confidence and courage. Parliament is a great option for any potential social science major as well as those interested in Classics, History, Philosophy, and The Growth and Structure of Cities.

Spring 2027 Courses

In the spring, students from both LLCs will take a half unit ( 0.5) course co-taught by their LLC Team. LLC faculty and students will co-create both the syllabi and readings for this course during the fall and the course will meet once a week through the spring ‘27 semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

Living and Learning Communities (LLCs) are student cohorts that live together in residence and engage in integrated academic content through an integrative curriculum offered through coursework supported by co-curricular.

Living and Learning Communities (LLCs) offer students the opportunity to build meaningful connections, explore shared interests, and learn alongside peers with similar interests. LLC members live together in the same dorm, participate in engaging on- and off-campus experiences, and enroll in courses together during their first year. These shared experiences foster a strong sense of belonging, support academic success, and help students create lasting friendships from the moment they arrive on campus.

No. Participating in an LLC does not mean that you are committing to a major or future career. The LLC is designed to help you explore that particular area of interest.

Your roommate must apply and be accepted into the LLC in order for you to live together.

The LLCs will be housed in Rhoads North.

Your CP is an upper-class student who lives in the dorm and serves as a mentor for the community. They will introduce you to co-curricular programming, which extends learning beyond the classroom.
